Your blog from July about getting old... I feel you. I'm within "big sister" age range of you. I was almost done with the first year of my career after uni when the pandemic hit. I lost my job and so much. All of us who were recently finished with or still in Uni already thought the world was going to shit, but we all lost the last of our innocence with the Pandemic, and some of us our livelihoods. You're not alone. And you are definitely not overdramatic or edgy. Life is not always in our control. I have known people who deal with anxiety and panic attacks. It make relationships difficult sometimes for them because their anxieties tell them their friends don't want to be around them or deal with them. But it's not true. You can't prevent change, but the best thing you can do is be open and honest, and keep good people around you who value you for who you are as you are now. If you bottle up the feelings and fears, they will consume you. I just want you to know your feelings are valid. And if people around you invalidate your feelings and fears, it's probably because they were trying to fake being okay when most of us weren't, or they weren't mature enough to understand or empathize with your worries about change and the global circumstance. But you should be proud of yourself because you recognized your clock was triggering to you, and you took action to help yourself by taking the batteries out. And you put into words all of this. My friends who have anxiety and panic attacks and depression never "stopped" having any of it fully. Even I, a mentally "healthy" person had a total messy breakdown during the pandemic when a family member died. "Being normal" is a lie, everyone goes though ups and downs in their mental health just like with physical health. But what has helped and set apart me and the people in my circle is that we support each other though those rough moments. And as for dying and whether or not you'll be remembered, well... There's reasons for folk tales and "ancestor worship" in this world. In my family, my mommy told me stories about my great-great grandmothers and their families, stories and names I will pass down. We have to live memorable lives and build relationships with family and friends and pass down those stories. The best part about being an adult that I have learned is that you get some freedom to build the life you truly want. You may have to break traditions and taboos. It may be hard. You may have financial restrictions at different times. You may face down a Global Pandemic. But you CAN overcome these things. It may take years even, but you CAN do it, you just have to keep moving forward, and make your own changes. I promise you, we will be okay!
